Meet the Lady Tigers!

The Lady Tigers is a 14-and-under team comprised of girls from the local area. The girls are currently hard at work gearing up for their next season. Led by Coach Kory Kerrington, Sam Elliot, and Dave Morgan, the Lady Tigers represent a wide variety of different strengths, weaknesses, and positions. Each Lady Tiger has a steadfast commitment to the team, dedication to improvement, mutual respect for each other, and a love for the game.

Fastpitch softball is not an easy game-- it requires long hours of practice, a desire to improve, and sacrifices made for weekend tournaments. The girls often find that along with the highs of winning, comes the lows of defeat and hardship. However, our team is bound with strong, capable life-long friends who love what they do. Both on and off the field, we are a team. The girls have bonded from their initial tryout and continue to support each other in all that they do.

Come meet our team!

Trish Murphy

My name is Trish Murphy. I am the proud center fielder of the Lady Tigers fastpitch softball team. I played on a recreational softball team before the Lady Tigers and had lots of fun, but I knew it was time for a change. I really love the game and want to be on the team that will help me do my best at the sport I adore. I enjoy learning new things and improving my skills, especially in softball.

Thanks to Margie, I have discovered a love for teaching softball too. The clinic was a great chance to pass on everything Coach Kory spent hours teaching us. I am a member of student government in school and would love to be able to organize a fundraiser for our school that ties in my love for softball too. Spending time at the clinic made me realize how easy it is to incorporate your passions into everything you do.

My dad is a lawyer and my mom is in fashion, but when I grow up I think I would like to be a teacher or a veterinarian. I love animals, especially dogs and horses. This summer—in between practices and tournaments, of course!—I want to learn how to ride at the barn near my house. It will be hard work, but if softball has taught me anything, it is that perseverance and determination can get you anywhere!

Amy Dover

Amy Dover

My name is Amy Dover. My favorite things are the color blue, red velvet cupcakes, and –of course—softball! I love the Lady Tigers, and I especially love my best friends, Nicole and Tammy. If I had to change one thing about the Lady Tigers, I would change our name to the Lady Dolphins... that way, our uniforms would be blue! Aside from softball, I also like painting and scrapbooking. My mom and I have a room in our house just for crafts. I am busy both in the art studio at school, as well as in my craft room at home! I weave orange and black lanyards for the girls to wear on tournament days. I'm thinking about starting a business and selling different colored lanyards to teams we meet at tournaments. I really like being an artist and a softball player. It proves girls can be anything and everything—artists and athletes.

Sally Andrews

I am Sally Andrews and I eat, sleep, and breathe softball. I want to be a pitcher for the rest of life. I can’t imagine anything else. The Lady Tigers is a great team to teach me how to get the most out of the game as an athlete and as a team member. I dream of playing professionally and hope to one day have the opportunity to coach my own team. My sister and I want to play on a national level one day as the perfect pitcher and catcher team. Nikki and I have been training together since a softball would fit in our hands, and we have yet to put it down. Sharing my love of softball is one of my favorite parts of the game. I can never stay away from playing for long, or else I miss everything about it: The feeling of the dirt on the field, the smell of the freshly cut grass in the outfield, and the sharp look of the white chalk on the brown earth. When I play softball, the rest of the world seems to disappear. Being on the pitcher's mound is like nothing else, surrounded by my friends playing the game I love. I have a strong bond with more than just my sister—all the Lady Tigers are like family. I remember how great it felt when we came together to make the clinic a success. That feeling—making a true difference with my friends—is the greatest victory of all.

Nikki Andrews

Hey there! My name is Nikki Andrews. My sister Sally and I play the best sport in existence: fastpitch softball. I’m the catcher for my sister and the Lady Tigers fourteen-and-under softball team. My sister and I have been playing together since we were old enough to hold a softball. We have a special pre-tournament exchange: right before we get in the car to go to the game, my sister leans over and says: “May the force be with you.” Whenever I sense that Sally is getting too tense on the mound, I whisper it to her. The quote makes her laugh and releases some of her tension. That’s why Sally and I are such a great team: we know each other so well. But we’re not the only part of the team that’s great—the Lady Tigers are all great friends and teammates, on the field and in the frozen yogurt shop.

Margie Clark

My name is Margie Clark and I play second base on the Lady Tigers. I love softball—everything about it. Our team works together like the parts of a brand-new fighter airplane. I love all my friends on the Lady Tigers. When we are on the field together, it is all about trust. I trust my teammates to know what to do, just like they trust me. But my teammates are more than just the girls who sit next to me in the dugout—they are my best friends.

I'm very grateful to have Trish, Nikki, Sally, and all the Lady Tigers standing by me while my dad is away. He's a master sergeant in the Air Force and I couldn't be more proud of him. I recently set-up a softball clinic for kids who also have family members in the Air Force. There are so many out there who can relate to my family's situation and I am glad that we now have the game I love to further unite us. The softball clinic was a huge success, and it meant all the world to me that my friends took time out of their lives to help with something that was important to me. I have discovered a new passion: helping others and giving back to the community.

Win or lose, I know I can count on my teammates. Off the field, you can find me spending time with my sister, testing out new recipes for sleepovers with my friends, hanging out at the frozen yogurt shop (my favorite flavor is cake batter!), and preparing for our next clinic.

I'm working on improving my batting technique and hope to teach what Coach Kory has been helping me with to all of the aspiring softball stars on the base!

Avery Todd

My name is Avery Todd. I live in Hartford Villages, two houses down from one of my best friends, Charlotte Hayden. Charlotte and I met our other friend, Bianca Lopez, in second grade. We played recreational ball together until 4th grade, when we join the Lady Tigers Fastpitch team. Now we work together to win against more competitive teams all over the state. I'm one of the shortstops for my team, but I also play right and centerfield.

I’m not the first in my family to play softball. My mother played when she was in high school. My two older brothers, Xander and Aaron, play football and lacrosse, so I dabble in a few other sports as well. My dad has been taking me to local games since I can remember, which might explain why I like sliding shorts better than denim ones.

My favorite subject at school is science, but I really want to play ball in college. Keeping healthy is a top priority for me. I will always work hard to keep my body healthy so when I’m 35, I’ll still be able to swing away and run home safely.

I'm working on improving my batting technique and hope to teach what Coach Kory has been helping me with to all of the aspiring softball stars on the base!

Bianca Lopez

I'm Bianca Lopez, left fielder-extraordinaire. My favorite subject is probably English, but math’s not so bad either. I want to be an actress when I grow up—or better yet, a comedian. Right now, it's a male-dominated field. I plan to be a part of the movement to change that, one joke at a time.

I love softball, but I love my friends on the Lady Tigers even more. My best buds Avery, Charlotte, and I are all on the same team, so we spend lots of time together. And chances are, if we’re not on the field together, we’re sitting in our favorite bakery chatting about movies, music, and of course, softball. I couldn’t ask for a better trio. If there’s one thing my sport has taught me, it’s that success depends mostly on the team you choose to play with—and that includes the game of life. It’s good to have someone to give me a high-five whether I strike out or hit a homerun.

Charlotte Hayden

My name is Charlotte Hayden. My hobbies include softball, shopping, up-cycling, and baking. Don’t worry if you don’t know what up-cycling is. My friends didn’t at first either. I love taking clothes that are just okay and making them pop with my own flair. That might mean adding bling, ribbons, or a splash of color. I think I have an eye for it. I probably get that from my older sister that works in New York City.

Of course, all of these hobbies are made better because I do them with my best friends, Bianca and Avery. They’ve stuck by my side for years. They were there for me when my mom left, when I almost failed my history class, and even when I’m almost moved to New Jersey.

My dad is an architect. I might want to work with him someday, if I don't go to New York with my sister. I love the collaboration Dad uses with the carpenters, city planners, and engineers. His job depends on teamwork—just like a softball game. Every play is easier when you have a good team member to back you up. Thankfully, the Lady Tigers have lots of great players!

Tammy Marshall

My name is Tammy Marshall. My real name, Tamara, is also my mother’s name, so I go by Tammy. I go to Oakland Middle School, and my best friends are Amy and Nicole. We play on a travel softball team called the Lady Tigers. In the winter, I play basketball for my school and co-edit the Oakland Middle Newsletter. I love researching a writing. My dad is the professor of World Event Journalism at the nearby college, and he taught me how important it is to be aware of the world around me. My mother is a doctor at Barton Hospital, so I also know the importance of sports when it comes to staying healthy. But the reason I love softball so much is the teamwork. As a girl with three brothers, I know how important teamwork is to a successful family. And that’s what the Lady Tigers are— a family.

Nicole Carter

I am Nicole Carter. I go to Oakland Middle School where I’m in the Green Club, on the debate team, and in the Film Club. I also volunteer at the animal shelter with my best friends Tammy and Amy. I love animals. I got my first dog last year when Tammy’s dog had puppies. Tammy gave me the youngest of the litter and I named him Caboose. I also have a bunny named Chili and a cat named Tiger, named after my favorite of all hobbies—my softball team.

I’ve been playing softball since I was six. My stepmom, Wendy, played when she was little and my aunt was a pitcher for her high school team. That’s why my number is 3—I’m the third person in my family to play like a girl! One day I hope to teach my 5-year-old stepsister, Suzannah, to play fastpitch softball. I love the workshops my team set up for the kids on base. It makes me happy to share what I love with others. I want to make them happy too.
